By The Light Of The Silvery Moon

HE SINGS BY THE LIGHT OF THE MOON
(a read-aloud poem)

Shelty McKelty and Pearl McCat
Went out for an afternoon walk.

Said Shelty McKelty, “Hey, Pearl, sweet girl,
Let’s call on Johnny McSquawk!”

Pearl, in a swoon, lit up like a goon
And replied with excitement, “Oh, dear!

“Doesn’t Johnny McSquawk move with a quick walk
And sing by the light of the moon, the silvery, silvery moon?”

Yes he sings by the light of the moon!

Johnny McSquawk went for a walk
With Shelty and Pearl that day.

Dressed to the hilt they danced a fine lilt
‘Til the moon grew big and gray.

Then precisely at three (and much to Pearl’s glee!)
Johnny stopped, looked up, then at she.

" ♫ I do say, tee-hee, yoda-lady-‘n-me
by the light ♫ of the silvery moon ♫ ."

Yes, he sings by the light of the moon, the silvery, silvery moon.
